Time's Mike Allen reports that the Bush administration intends to repackage the Harriet Miers nomination to focus more on her accomplishments after what he terms a "disastrous" two weeks following her original appointment.
The piece, headlined "Why They Can't Hit The Right Note," highlights the criticism the president has received from conservatives, but Allen seems to be more effective at taking pleasure in the right's frustration than he is at actually explaining why the administration can't rally Republicans and conservatives around Miers.
I don't expect this new strategy to work, and I'm wondering how long it will take for liberals to compare this latest shift in rationale to the Iraq war when Bush was forced to renew his justification for invasion after stockpiles of WMD failed to materialize.
