A lengthy Washington Post analysis of the domestic competition faced by Microsoft shows Bill Gates’ Microsoft “financial growth is slowing…and its stock has been flat for five years.” Microsoft’s thuggish competitive ways are less effective than before due to new competitors.
So, Microsoft – like ‘30’s thugs – turns to Prohibition, but this time it’s prohibition of “freedom,” “democracy,” and other such head-lighteners that distract Chinese worker-bees from their assigned tasks of enriching their recast ruling class.
Former journalist, now blogger, Rebecca MacKinnon at her blog RConversation demonstrates through her skills in Chinese and in computers that Microsoft’s MSN ISP is the most aggressive censor of free speech among the ISP’s serving China. This is not direct intervention by the Chinese authorities. This is Microsoft exerting itself to out-lackey its competitors in kissing tyrannical butt. It stinks.
