Democracy Project’s heart and soul consists of forming and supporting grassroots networks through which individuals at the local level can have a tremendous impact on our country’s civic health. As a new organization, we are looking for volunteers who share our vision of America as a land united by our commitment to a common civic culture based on the rule of law, a free press, private property, individual responsibility, economic opportunity, and the freedom to speak, think, and worship as we please.
Volunteers can represent any walk of life – community leaders, educators, high school and college students, clergy, or the business community. If you are interested in our mission, we need your help! More importantly, you’ll enable the people with whom you work to advance economically at a much faster rate than is possible if their future is left to chance. By taking an interest in your community, you’ll help build a stronger, more just America.
Volunteers may organize local networks to aid in the assimilation process of newly arrived immigrants or new citizens. As Democracy Project publishes new pamphlets and expands our network, we will provide printed material for distribution among our constituencies. Through this web site and others that will follow, we will provide a virtual hub of activity around which your organizing efforts can center.
Of particular interest to college students are our cooperative efforts with other organizations and individuals to establish Students for Democracy chapters on college campuses nationwide. Anyone interested in promoting democracy at home and abroad is urged to contact us to begin organizing. We will recommend authors, speakers, and organizations whose work addresses the most pressing issues of our times – war, competing ideologies at home and abroad, American culture, the issues surrounding immigration, and more. The future belongs to you – do your part to help ensure that the world you leave to your children is freer and more prosperous than it is today.
